Questions and Answers
What is “Richter Scale”?
The Richter magnitude scale, or more correctly local magnitude ML scale, assigns a single number to quantify the amount of seismic energy released by an earthquake. It is a base-10 logarithmic scale obtained by calculating the logarithm of the combined horizontal amplitude of the largest displacement from zero on a Wood-Anderson torsion seismometer output.
What is “Tsunami”?
A tsunami is a series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced.
What is the “Seismograph”?
Seismographs are instruments that sense and record the motion of the Earth.
What are types of the seismic wave?
There are three basic types of seismic waves in solids: P-waves and S-waves (both body waves) and surface waves. The two basic kinds of surface waves (Rayleigh and Love), can be fundamentally explained in terms of interacting P- and/or S-waves.
What are the fault types?
Faults can be categorized into three groups based on the sense of slip. A fault where the main sense of movement (or slip) on the fault plane is vertical is known as a dip-slip fault. Where the main sense of slip is horizontal the fault is known as a transcurrent or strike-slip fault. Oblique-slip faults have significant components of both strike and dip slip.
What is the extensional fault?
Extensional Fault is a fault that extends the pre-existing geological layering.
What is the “plate tectonics”?
Plate tectonics: is a theory of geology that has been developed to explain the observed evidence for large scale motions of the Earth’s lithosphere.

What is the epicenter?

Epicenter: The point on the earth’s surface above the point at depth in the earth’s crust where an earthquake begins.

What is the earthquake?
Earthquake: Ground shaking caused by a sudden movement on a fault or by volcanic disturbance
What is the motive behind the Online Data Room?

The main motivation behind the Online Data Room is to web-enable access to our valuable data for interested groups, companies, government authorities and/or official bodies. This will help in promoting asset sales, marketing and licensing for exploration blocks.

What are the requirements to view or get data from the On Line D

There are no special requirements to view data from the Online Data Room. Having a standard Internet Explorer is what you need to start getting the data you’re authorized to view.

Who can view or get data from the Online Data Room?

Only authorized users, having a username and password, can view data from the Online Data Room. This restriction was put to enhance security and to organize access to NRA data.

What data would the Online Data Room provide?
The Online Data Room will provide easy access to all E&P (Exploration & Production) data related to areas in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Interested parties can obtain all of the detailed asset information available in a physical data room such as reserves land records, field data, maps, engineering, seismic data, navigation data, geological studies and well reports. Additionally, data related to mining, quarries and mineral exploration activities.

Are NRA Labs accredited from local or international institutions?
NRA Labs are planning to apply for accreditation by any of these institutions but the testing procedures and used techniques are according to the international standards of testing methods such as ASTM, BS and DIN

What are the tests available at NRA Labs for the Uranium ore and related compounds?
At present there is no full analyses for Uranium, the only determination that is performed in the Labs is for the percentage of U in soil samples using ICP and XRF instruments.
Is there any testing for waste water coming out from industry and waste water treatment plants?
NRA Labs don’t have any of the waste water analyses from any source.
Does NRA provide testing and analyses for sources of pollution of environment?
Full environment tests are not available in NRA Labs but some elemental analyses in water and soil samples can be executed.
Is there any testing facilities for crude oil and various petroleum products?
No, NRA Labs can only do the elemental analyses and the calorific value of the oil samples.
Does NRA have facilities for testing drinking water?
NRA Labs only test the water accompanied with mining, exploration or similar geological projects ,but it can determine the ions concentrations for drinking water (major and trace ions) like Na,K,SO4,Cl,Mg, Ca, NO3, PO4,…etc.
