General Power of Attorney Sample 

If you need to get your inheritance from Jordan and would like to appoint another person to do the tasks behalf you , you should make General power of attorney and you need the following documents

The original papers required are as follows:

1 – Death certificate as evidence of your father death.

2 – Birth certificates for all your family members.

3 – A certificate proves that your mother’s religion is Christianity duly issued from any entity whatsoever.

4 – Family book (if any) it is a book that contains information on the family members: husband, wife and children issued by a competent government body specialized in civil registry.

5 – General power of attorney certified by the Jordanian Embassy or Consulate granted by your adult sister who is older than 18 years old. It should be attached by a legal translation from Arabic into English that is applicable in Jordan.

 There are two ways to make a general power of attorney:

  A – You can directly make it in the Jordanian embassy as it is the fastest way, once you have completed the procedures at the embassy, all procedures shall legally be finished, and the power of attorney will be prepared for use in Jordan. In addition, it is rather preferable to contact the embassy in advance to enquire for legal possible procedures and any documentation necessary to directly make the general power of attorney at the embassy.

Or   B – You can also make it at a local notary public. In this case, you must authenticate it by U.S. Justice Department and U.S. State Department and then the Jordanian Consulate in your state.

In both cases you must take with you the power of attorney that I have sent to you on USB or CD and save it as soft copy.

General Power of Attorney Sample

I, the undersigned (Your name as written in the Jordanian passport), have authorized and appointed (name as written in the Jordanian passport) to act on my behalf in supervising, overseeing, and managing my entire movable and immovable properties in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, whether these properties belong to me or have become mine through lawful inheritance. He is also authorized to act on my behalf in leasing, mortgaging, dismortgaging, selling to people of his choice at a price he considers appropriate, buying and registering lands, real estate, residential apartments, buildings, companies’ stocks, and development stocks, as well as any other property, and registering them in my name, selling or waiving them to whomever he wishes, establishing buildings and institutions, procuring building licenses, blueprints, public works licenses, and other required licenses. In addition, he is authorized to establish companies, institutions, and stores, solely or jointly with others, bring in partners, specify shares, receive compensations, recompenses for possession-taking (by the government), remunerations, pension wages, refunds, and any other amounts due from any party whatsoever. He is also authorized to manage all issues related to the apportionment of inheritance shares, collecting and spending money, and signing on my behalf on all related papers and motions at any department and concerned authority, including traffic, judicial, and customs departments, insurance companies, the Income Tax Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and all its branches, the Greater Amman Municipality, municipalities, electricity companies, water, sewerage, and phone divisions, the Social Security Corporation, the Lands and Survey Department, and the Registration Department.

In general, this includes all ministries and official and semi-official departments. He is also authorized to bring legal and penal suits before courts of all types, functions, and degrees, including the Magistrate Court and the First Instance Court, and to appeal, object, file for cassation, remit, and amend lawsuits, as well as submit pleadings, request summons, forward regular and judicial notices, respond to them, use required papers and documents, notify and be notified, introduce evidence, demonstrate want of evidence, enter in the capacity of a third party, elect experts, arbitrators, and reconcilers, dismiss them, and/or approve their decisions, express objections against others, remove lawsuits, reject members, and file complaints against judgments. He is also authorized to refer to departments of execution, request execution, approve/reject settlements and demand imprisonment, apply precautionary or executionary seizure, confirm the seizure or release the prisoner through reconciliation, acquittal, and unprejudiced confirmation. He may also collect amounts resulting from judgments, borrow on my behalf from banks and financial institutions, mortgage my movable and immovable properties as guarantees for loans, open bank accounts, deposit in these accounts in my name, cash cheques, receive deposits, collect stock revenues from companies, and act in all matters in which he can be legally authorized, whether mentioned here or not, even if their mention is required. This is a general power of attorney authorizing his statements, actions, and judgments. By virtue of this power of attorney, he may authorize any person or attorney to act on his behalf on all or part of the matters mentioned in this document, and he is authorized to dismiss them as well, once or repeatedly.

Excluded from the provisions of this power of attorney is that it is valid only in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and not in any other state or country.
